Barre

Unique to Pure Movement Portland and inspired by the Lotte Berk Method, Barre classes are best described as Pilates evolved, allowing both men and women to find more ease in movement, coordination and flexibility. Barre brings together the disciplines of Yoga, Pilates, and sports conditioning into one system, targeting specific problem areas like the seat, abdominals, arms, and thighs. Exercising has never felt or made you look better. Get prepared to build a strong core, improve your posture and focus your mind with Barre!

Barre:

  • Utilize mats, weights, bands, and ballet barres to create a strong toned and graceful body.
  • Ideal and challenging for all fitness levels
  • Improve muscle tone and flexibility while burning calories

Beginning with a warm-up and light weight-work in the center of the floor the class then moves to the ballet barre focusing first on the thighs and seat, then under the barre for waist, hip and outer thigh work, finishing off with abdominal work in the center of the room. A stretching section follows each strengthening section of the class in order to create strong, long, lean muscle without bulk, while increasing range of motion.
